SLAS: Primary Courage Assembly

News

On August 30th, K-G5 had our first Assembly of the year hosted by our Primary teachers.

Each month at SLAS we have a themed Character Count! For the month of August it is ‘Courage’ and in our K-G2 assembly we listened to a story about Lily the Ladybug!

Lily learnt that it’s okay to be afraid of some things, but that with courage – we can do hard things!

All of our Wildcats that embodied our Core Values throughout the month to become Proficient Communicators, Creative Thinkers, Confident Individuals, and Compassionate Citizens were awarded! We’re looking forward to our next Character Count and 1A teaching us all about Diligence!

For our G3-5:
August 30th, our Grades 3-5 had their first assembly of the 2024-2025 School Year! It was great to all be together again after a long relaxing summer. The theme of this assembly was courage, and some brave teachers put on a short skit showing the importance of demonstrating courage at home.

After that, everyone was invited to take part in a quick game, deciding if certain scenarios showed courageous behavior or not. Finally, the Students of the Month were recognized on stage!

A wonderful way to kick off the year, and we are all looking forward to the next assembly in September!

Courage is a fitting theme for our first assembly. Our students have many reasons to feel nervous and scared in their new classes and school year. They couldn’t have gotten a better model from our G3-5 teachers who performed their skits! Thank you for showing that everyone can relate to getting scared, and it’s just another chance to be courageous.
