Our Grade 2 classes had a blast on Friday during their Marketplace activity. Aimed to combine and practice multiple concepts taught in class, students had the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning and apply the knowledge and topics covered in our classroom curriculum. Working in groups, our Wildcats utilized problem-solving and critical thinking skills to brainstorm and develop product ideas while also considering factors such as marketing strategies and budgeting.
Over the course of a week, they refined their products and created posters, price tags, and shop signs, utilizing creativity and design skills.
Finally, on Friday, students opened up their G2 Market, where they had the opportunity to engage in sales and purchase items from other groups. This activity allowed students to put into practice skills such as communication, negotiation, and salesmanship. The competition aspect of the project, with the teams that made the most money winning a doughnut party, added an element of motivation and healthy competition.
Overall, the G2 Market project served as an excellent example of how hands-on learning can be used to reinforce and apply classroom concepts in a fun and interactive way, while also developing important skills needed for future success as Global citizens: Confident Individuals, Proficient Communicators, Creative Thinkers, and Compassionate Citizens. Go Wildcats!
